The original term and meaning of shift operation is round-the-clock production. During this production, waste is also constantly generated, which can be regarded as a by-product of production. The exhibition Schichtbetrieb is dedicated to the combining, superimposing and removing of materials in collage, assemblage and the décollage. The different levels of meaning created in this way reflect the complexity and fragmentation of our lives. As a counterpart to collage, décollage complements this approach by destroying existing surfaces to reveal underlying layers - as a metaphor for the search for deeper truths. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the continual reshaping of our environment and ourselves. By recycling and destroying layers of materials and remnants, artists tell complex stories and challenge perceptions of reality. The exhibited artists assemble different materials into new images and objects.
